One of those days

Snail mail these days ain't fun anymore. No personal letters, no beaming cards sent from afar. Received 3 letters today - bank, insurance and my pay record. Saddening. Aihh I half wish I'm still in the 90s.

Every call I've received today are from people I don't wish to talk to. It is one of those days when almost nothing seems to go right, when you're looking for X ingredient while cooking and discover you've forgotten to purchase it; when you wish for bright skies you get incessant rain; when the people you want to talk to are too busy, but those you don't want to talk to call you up instead; when people disappear from the face of the earth for weeks and then turn up suddenly as if nothing's happened and expect you to be the same.

Yep its one of those days alright.

On other things, a few of us will be taking pics @ Multicultural Week next week.. Not with my little digicam though. MONSU (the student union) has a Canon Rebel which Adrian arranged for me to use. I was able to loan it for the weekend, lenses incl - 50mm f/1.8, 90-300mm, and the normal kit 18-55mm. The 50mm lens was the last I tried but whoa I like it! The pics turned out sharp, feels suitable for low-light indoor situations. Now I need to figure out what to do about the flash intensity. Thats one niggly thing about my own camera's flash as well.

Its been a while since I've gotten "back" into photography. Books are cheaper and the net is free (well, almost). Recently was informed some of my pics got shortlisted for an online travel guide, will see if any gets published. Unfortunately no remuneration since its semi-commercial (guides available for free on the web) so its just self-satisfaction :'(

TiredThursday

Yee Wei mentioned just now "Your last post was 10 days ago". I hadn't realized that. I reckon I've lost track of the days as a result of 4 weeks of mind-numbing work. "I sound drunk, but I'm not!" shd be my MSN message these days. Lack of sleep, too much caffeine plus all the work/activity is making me either really blur or really hyper. Not a very healthy mixture but next week I'll have time to catch up on sleep..
.
We had a mini bloggers meet at Lygon St just now (I'm sure the rest will post up soon..). Enjoyed that though I have to state that I'm not a blogger. I just "happen to have a blog". This is unashamedly a work-eat-sleep blog, at least at this point in time..
.
Whats new this week then?..
~ I've graduated.
~ Work ends tomorrow so now I urgently need another job. The pay comes in, but then goes out again in a flash. Bills to be paid..ahh my bank balance hurts..
~ Spent last weekend at a beachhouse @ Point Lonsdale. We sortof expected a shack-like structure but.. it looked like it came right out of a design mag :P

Anyways, alot of people have asked "so how does it feel to have graduated?". I don't really know what to answer since I haven't thought so much about it.. Been preparing for work-life and graduate job search since March so July doesn't seem so significant. After all the applications and interviews for jobs back home, I've decided to apply for PR here. Aihh..

Thats another story. Too tired to continue typing..

Another work-eat-sleep post..

I glanced at the bedside clock just a moment ago, and glanced again -- 11.14pm already. OMG It seems as if I just got back, just took my shower, have another few mails to reply, jacket washed halfway (still in e bucket), room to be cleaned etc etc etc. And I feel like sleeping early tonight. Impossible now, obviously.

Last week was a mad whirlwind of stuff going on. But out of it all I only worked 3 days...On my off day Monday, went in to CFV for my usual admin work and whilst there, met a new face. Rosanna's a new volunteer there. She's from the HK Baptist University and the uni is way cool - they actually sent a group of students over from HongKong to do work exchange and she picked a non-profit org (they arranged with the organisation sommore). Coincidentally it was her first day at work and she's prob glad to see me, cos the rest of the office was EXtremely busy that day n didn't have too much time to show her everything. Her first day at work and we OT-ed sommore hahh..but I think she'll enjoy that office.

Got sick on Thu so cancelled work but went in on Fri. The past weekend was so packed, but I enjoyed it even though I feel crap tired now

Had dinner Friday at Darrel's friend's place (Ed) in the city cos he was cooking - chappati and curry. Initially I thought it was the "frozen-chappati-in-packet" type but he actually made it from scratch --- as in made it from flour etc O_o Never cease to spring surprises eh.. Got back late and ended up almost falling asleep downstairs as I watched Germany v Argentina with the rest. Rarely get the chance to watch football (since its at ungodly hours here and I gotta wake up early) so decided to catch that match, but who knows it dragged on to extra time and then to penalties sommore. By 3 plus I was dead on my feet and going "whatever, c'mon just get it over 'n done with and let me go to dreamland..." Btw I was hoping for Argentina to win. They were the better team, but then again its football and it doesn't always happen this way..

Within a few hours after the match, with a coupla hours sleep tucked in, I trudged my way to the city yet again. Saturday was my 1st time dropping by Melbourne Uni. Haven't had a chance to form an impression bout there yet cos it was so windy/cold that day we just walked fast and kept our heads bowed. Hence I don't even remember where I was led to, figure its somwhere in the archi buildings. Attended a meeting there with Eric, Vincent, Ling & co. for a coupla hours. Quite productive and I suppose being in a smaller informal group provides a better setting for decision-making. A quick dinner with Fenella and Wen, and after that I left to MinHui's new place to bumm for awhile. The view from the top floor of her building is fantastic, to say the least :)

Not content with bumming, the next day we did the steamboat we've been craving for, plus LeeInn who came by. Aah hotpot in winter's the best!! No pictures though, didn't care to take any.. (btw my Flickr account's updated with new pics, check it out!).. Stayed over and went straight to work today. Work is getting abit unbearable, not just for me but for almost everyone. Its the monotonous nature of it all I suppose.. I gotta repeat to myself all the time now - "think of the bank account (MH suggests think of the "000"s)..."

gotta tahan
gotta tahan
gotta tahan

aihh off to finish my chores n ZZzzzz. I tak boleh tahan (stand) dy :(
