I'm back! Have been taking abit of a break from blogging. I state my current status as "jobless" and to some it might sound like a complaint but in reality its not, cos I'm enjoying these lazy sunny months in KL.
Its great for once that I'm not working, at all. Haven't even bothered hunting for work cos I believe now's the final opportunity to just "not do anything of importance" before I step into the official working world. Its easily imaginable what working full time does to the schedule. No jalan-jalan in malls on weekday afternoons, no relaxing lattes in the mid mornings etc..no such luxury in the future. Oh, and of course less time to meetup with friends etc when everyone surrounding me is more immersed in their busy schedules..But for now, a typical lazy day sounds like this:
? a.m. : Wake up. Unlike other families, I'm left to my own devices. Even if I sleep till nighttime, no one will be banging on my door going "Oi A-na (my nickname) wake up! do you know what time it is now??"
early to late afternoon : 2 choices - 1. Go jalan. 2. Try to think of productive activities to carry out (ie attempt to produce something edible from hours of valiant labour in the kitchen, read etc..)
night : Yamcha? or else, as dearAmber has nicely produced another set of dramas for me, the usual.. one thing I don't do, however, is to go online. Hardly go online these days, cos when I get back to Melbourne it'll be back to 24hrs availability. Too much connection and nothing to do with it then..
I suddenly realized something last week. Nothing fantabulous, just the sudden realization that I tend to be sms-ing more than calling. A coupla days later, an article in the papers mentioned the same thing, that a very high percentage of mobile users were using their phones for sms-es more than calls. IMO people do all sorts of strange things thru sms. Previously there was the notorious misuse of sms to declare divorce (courts ruled it invalid). Also there're lotsof timeslots on tv where users chat thru sms etc..
Voiceless communication - thats how I describe it. But, is it truly communication? Do ppl really communicate? True, sms allows the user to convey what they may hesitate to say face-to-face. But given a choice, I'd take a normal phone call over that. When ppl sms, its impossible to sense their moods. Granted, it is instantaneous and is useful at times (esp when credit is low hehhe) but imo, its just as impersonal as email..and so..I shall be making a conscious effort to reduce sms-ing...
Hmm another thing. Technology these days. There's bad, and there's good as well. A printer these days is no longer only a printer. Now, its a printer cum scanner cum fax cum phone. Phew what a mouthful to pronounce. Thing is I'll have to figure how to make it work - which then means I've to spend more time poring over the accompanying manual - bad.
