Off to Sabah - suggestions?

We're off to Sabah on Thursday, hence this lazy blogger did some googling today. Its been more than 10 years since I've set foot in KK, can't really remember much then.. Thanks to SiowPing and LiKai, the itinerary's decided and proper bookings made (for once we made bookings!)

Day 1: Kota Kinabalu - Promenade Hotel Apartments.. seafood, UMS, Filipino market?
Day 2: Pulau Gaya - Gayana Island Resort, part of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park (looking forward to bumming at the beach!)
Day 3: Kinabalu Park - Nepenthes Lodge (it looks mighty fine in the pic)..hmm..they're providing firewood. Do we actually even know how to light a roaring fire??
Day 4: Travel back to Kota Kinabalu, proceed to Beaufort and depart for Tenom on the oldest train in Borneo (and according to SiowPing, it smells/is cramped hahhha we're gonna have so much fun on that 2 and half hours train ride - each way!). Overnight in Tenom.
Day 5: Back to KK, then back to KL.

Looking forward to a good trip with the buddies. Very fortunate we've frequently travelled together hence we know there's no "whiners" on board. At least, I hope not =)

Now is there anything that is a "must-see/do" in the above-mentioned places? Comments're appreciated!

Why would you be going to UMS?

Your train trip is really going to take a long time. On the same train tracks, one of the trains actually take you up to the padas river where if you join will take one whole day which is a highly recommended activity.

It's been raining real heavily in the afternoons so staying overnight there is a good idea. Lots of sunscreen needed during the day.

There's the Waterfront place just opposite the road on the right side of the Promenade Apartments which is a good place to go at night for nightlife.

Another alternative is the area near Hyatt. The nightlife there is considerably active as well.

Sundays, we have street markets at Gaya Street, just in case you wake up early with nothing to do during the weekend.

I'm a local here so do leave me a message if I can provide any assistance.

I have been to KK only once and I had a wonderful time there. I stayed at the Pearl harbour Resort (which btw, is the best hotel I have stayed in so far). Check out the peals at the Filipino market and don't forget to bargain.
